Unusual figures from the 18th century

Two Huguenot refugees published in Amsterdam in 1723 the Religious Ceremonies and Customs of All the Peoples of the World. This work, which brings together all the knowledge that we then possessed on all the known religions in the world, revolutionized the way Europeans viewed religion and inaugurated before its time the progress of tolerance in the times of the Enlightenment.

REPRINT: Come and print surprising engravings on the MIR Gutenberg press!

Five of the seven volumes of this work, which has more than 3,400 pages and 260 engravings, are exhibited at the MIR alongside a giant Gutenberg press that adults and children are invited to operate. Under the guidance of a competent person, each visitor can roll the page under the press and take it away after drying for a few minutes. Outside of workshop hours, each visitor is offered a copy of a printed engraving.
