Far from the codes, aesthetics and techniques of the art world, marginal creators bring together the rational and the spiritual. The exhibition “Voir l’invisible. L’Art Brut et l’au-delà” echoes this.

A giant coffin in the shape of a rooster, an embroidered dress designed to join a deceased person in the afterlife, purple and carmine stains to dialogue with spirits, a tormented evocation of the Book of Revelation by the founder of the Red Cross…

Fourteen Art Brut artists have created works that question the immaterial, death and the afterlife. From New Guinea, Switzerland, China, France, Poland, the USA, Ghana, Italy, Indonesia, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, they express existential and metaphysical questions in a wide variety of forms.
