Sola Natura ?

The Protestant Reformation at its beginnings marked a revolution in the mentalities of the ^16th century, by rejecting official figures of authority against the backdrop of a profound societal crisis. Are we in a similar situation on the ever-increasing environmental degradation front? The famous environmental thinkers Dominique Bourg and Philippe Roch debate the conditions today for reforming our systems of thought in order to give a clearer horizon to the protests which are multiplying in reaction to the ecological crisis. Should we identify the nature of all instrumentalization (Sola Natura) by analogy with the ideals of the Reformation with regard to the Bible (Sola Scriptura)?

Speakers

Honorary professor at the Faculty of Geosciences and the Environment at the University of Lausanne, philosopher Dominique Bourg is a specialist in sustainability issues.

Doctor in biochemistry, Philippe Roch headed the Swiss WWF and the Federal Office for the Environment.
